Crash Barriers
Frequently Asked Questions
Are crash barriers always visible?
Not all crash barriers are visible. Barriers like rising bollards, wedge barriers, and net barriers can be flush with the surface when desired to enhance aesthetics, allow emergency vehicles entry/exit, and control the flow of traffic or pedestrians.
What if I don't need high security crash barriers?
Our crash barriers come in a variety of different crash-ratings, so if you're looking for light security or don't need crash-rated protection many of our crash barriers still offer a high degree of security to keep unauthorized users out.
Can crash barriers be integrated with other security solutions?
Yes, all of our crash barriers can be integrated with Access Control and Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS) for enhanced protection and streamlined operation.
Which crash barrier offers the highest degree of protection?
The highest crash-rating a security barrier can receive is an M50/P1 rating, which means they can stop a 15k pound truck traveling at 50 mph, with a penetration depth of one foot. IronSite crash barriers that have M50/P1 rating options are Bollards, Wedge Barriers, Drop Arms, Rising Beams, and Cable Barriers.
What are the excavation requirements for crash barriers?
This largely depends on the type of crash barrier, but most crash barriers require some type of excavation for proper anchoring and power supply. Bollards require deeper excavation with drainage whereas barriers like drop arms and gate arms require pedestal foundations, and wedge barriers require broad, shallow excavation. Most of our crash barriers also have shallow excavation installation options.
How quickly does Emergency Fast Operation (EFO) deploy crash barriers?
Most crash barriers with EFO can raise and lower in under 2 seconds.
Do crash barriers offer customization options?
Yes, many of our crash barriers can be customized to meet specific length, height, material, color, and finish requirements. Custom control panels are also available from IronSite.
Are hydraulic or electric crash barriers better?
This depends on the unique needs of the security project. If maximum protection and longevity are more important, hydraulic barriers are generally your best bet. If simpler installation costs, emergency fast operation capabilities, and high versatility are top focuses, electric barriers might be a better bet.
